My Perfect Match, A New Kidney
January 11, 2002. I have to say what a beautiful day that this is. I write this on my 28th birthday. March 6, 2002 will be my second year anniversary from my Kidney Transplant.
My Life Seemed So Perfect
It was around Thanksgiving of 2000 and I remember thinking my life seemed so perfect. Exactly one year later, I was back in the hospital, but this time I was fighting for my life. My heart was failing.
My Life Changed in an Instant
June 23, 2005, I woke up with what I thought to be the stomach flu. My mom took me to the doctor and it was determined that I had the stomach flu and it had to run its course. On June 30, they performed an emergency open biopsy. It was discovered that my liver was hard and shrunken.
My Life Changed
Imagine going to bed feeling like you had the flu, but waking up the next morning yellow. For me this felt like a bad dream, but it was a reality. The next few weeks would change my life forever.
Miracles and Earth Angels
On Memorial Day, May 31, 2004, I received a call from Dr. Ross. It was a day that forever changed my life. This day was the greatest miracle in my life since birth. A donor lung had been found that matched with me.
Let’s Dance!
When I am out dancing, many people recognize the scars of a reconstruction on my right knee. I tell them about the gift I received, and how one person is able to help so many people by donating organs and tissue.
