Tuesday’s Tale: Betsy’s Gift of Life We would like to tell you about our daughter, Elizabeth. We always called her Betsy. She passed away on April 29, 2004 from a brain aneurysm.

Tuesday’s Tale: An Unexpected Gift My journey to a kidney transplant was unexpected. As a nurse and a mother I am used to taking care of others and never anticipated that a routine physical would lead to a life-threatening discovery.  In 2005, I learned that my kidneys were only operating at 25 percent capacity and that a transplant was in my future.

Tuesday’s Tale: Freedom from Illness My journey to transplantation begins 10 years ago, when I visited my gastroenterologist. It was then that I learned I had a form of hepatitis that would eventually compromise my liver function.

Tuesday’s Tale: A Big Heart My dad, James Connor Clark, was an amazing man who loved life. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to ride motorcycles. He had a huge heart; unfortunately, his heart began to fail him at a young age.

Tuesday’s Tale: An Incredible Gift My story started when I was only 11 years old. I went into the doctor for a checkup and I learned I had cirrhosis, meaning there was scarring in my liver and it wasn’t able to function properly. I immediately had to start taking medication to try to manage the issue.

Being the Best Mom I Can Be After going to see a sports medicine doctor, I was diagnosed with Spondylolisthesis. This is a condition where a vertebra in the spine slips out of place and moves forward onto a bone below it. I was told that a spinal fusion was my only option.
