Stories of hope

When first deciding to be a kidney donor for my mom there were times when I was scared silly. This was something I wanted to do, but I had so many questions about it. I talked it over with many of my family members and friends. They were all very encouraging.

I wanted to be sure that when I made this very important decision I would not change my mind about it later. So, after much prayer and thought I decided that I would do it and donate the kidney to my mom.

Once that time came there was no looking back. I had complete peace about my decision. This was one of the most rewarding and awesome experiences that I have been able to be a part of. The surgery went very well for both of us. By the next morning we could already see some of the results. My mom was so much better! Her color was back, her skin had gotten softer, and so many other little things that we had not even thought about before the transplant.

My recovery was excellent. I felt OK in just days. I was surprised at how quickly I recovered. Overall, I would say that this was something I would never regret doing. I am so thankful for the support of family and friends and the peace that God gave me.
