Telling the story of donation

The atrium in the Lifeline of Ohio office features an ever-changing memorial installation featuring 48 shadowboxes. Nearly two-thirds of the framed tributes highlight individual stories of donors through photos, letters and/or mementos selected by donor families. Each inset box memorializes a donor while outset boxes feature photos of transplant recipients.

The boxes serve as both a memorial and a celebration of the ripple started by each gift given through donation. View our digital shadowboxes below to see a complete gallery of all who have been featured over the years.

Enrica Apollonio Westerville, OH. Since receiving her gift of life through a liver transplant on January 12, 2014, Rica pays it forward by encouraging Ohioans to register as an organ, eye and tissue donors. Every day she celebrates her second chance at a healthier life.
Gay Eberthart Dublin, OH. Gay received her life-saving heart transplant after waiting only 45 minutes! She received her second chance at life on April 5, 2000 and has spent her “extra” years celebrating her donor and encouraging Ohioans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors.
Randy Zibell Bexley, OH. Randy is alive with a deeper appreciation of life thanks to the thoughtfulness and generosity of an organ donor. He received his life-saving liver transplant February 4, 2014.
Roman Christopher Delaware, OH. Roman was born with a serious heart defect known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. When he was only three months old, he was listed for a heart transplant. After three months of waiting, the call came on May 6, 2012! Since that time, Roman has thrived! He’s now in kindergarten, loves to play and live life. All thanks to his donor.
Brian Simpson Proctorville, OH. Died September 8, 2012. Brian restored sight to two through cornea donation and healed countless others through tissue donation.
Tracy Reifer Williamstown, WV. Tracy was given the gift of life in the form of a life-saving liver transplant on June 22, 2015. She now spreads the Donate Life message through Southeastern Ohio and West Virginia.
