A Placenta Donation Story

At Hanna Barnette’s 36 week prenatal appointment her doctor had asked if she would be interested in donating her placenta.

“I had never heard of such a thing before that day but she talked to me about the process and benefits of donating. I agreed and filled out the necessary paperwork. Afterwards, my curious self of course went home and looked more into it. Doing so, I learned that placentas can be used for many, many things. I remember thinking to myself “Why not donate it? They’re just gonna basically throw it away if I don’t.”

This was my second pregnancy and I had a scheduled C-section, a nice lady came in and talked to me a few moments before my cesarean. She thanked me for even considering donating. On March 2, 2021 my son Graham was born at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio and she received the placenta. She thanked me once again, congratulated me again and then left. The whole process was so easy!

There’s something rewarding about helping others especially when there’s not much you even have to do really.”
