We Dash for: Our little buddy, Jack

IMG_1666At just over seven months old, Jack was a happy, energetic little boy. Born November 25, 2014, he loved to move from the very beginning – his exersaucer and his bumper jumper were two of his favorite activities.

Jack was also very affectionate and loving. He was always smiling and laughing. He was the perfect start to our family.

Tragically, Jack passed away on June 28, 2015. When my wife and I were presented with the opportunity for organ donation, we had honestly never thought much about it, but we knew it was the right thing to do. We knew that our smiling, loving boy would go on to save a life. It was our glimmer of hope in a very dark time.

IMG_1660Shortly after Jack’s passing, we learned that his liver had been donated to a little boy. While we don’t know anything about the recipient, we have written and are hoping to begin correspondence with the family.

In July, we will honor Jack and his gift at the 2016 Dash for Donation. Our family will band together to always keep Jack’s memory and legacy alive, while teaching others about organ, eye and tissue donation.

Our “Little Man”, our “Baby Boy” and Daddy’s “Little Buddy” has made a huge impact in this world. Our goal is to share his story and encourage others to consider registering as organ, eye and tissue donors.
