Hero Tribute – Jenae’s Story

My beautiful sweet 16-year-old daughter Jenae McNichols was active in cheerleading, band, drama, student council and her favorite – dance. She learned about organ donation in school and was passionate enough about it to have a conversation with us about her decision to be a donor. She said ‘yes’ to donation at the BMV.

On May 27, 2013, she was on her way to teach dance at Garrett Dance Arts Studio when she was involved in a single car accident. She fought for five days but her injuries were too severe. On May 31, she saved the lives of three people with her kidney and liver donations. She gave the gift of sight to two and helped hundreds of people through tissue donation. Since her death, we have given 78 scholarships totaling $35,100 to Lakewood Local School District High School Seniors and Garret Dance Seniors This is our way of keeping her generous spirit alive.

We miss her every day but we know she lives on through organ donation.

Thank you to Jenae’s mother Lisa for sharing her story with us.
