The New Donate Life License Plate Shines with Ohio Pride

Headed to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) soon to renew your license? In addition to confirming your decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor, you have the opportunity to purchase the new Ohio Pride Donate Life Plate!

The new Ohio Pride Donate Life license plate is unveiled today.

Beginning April 15, Ohio will offer a new standard license plate design called Ohio Pride. The Donate Life special plate features the Ohio Pride artwork in the background with a Donate Life logo in the left hand corner and the tagline “Organ Donors Save Lives.” With the release during Donate Life Month, the plate allows Ohio residents to show support for organ, eye and tissue donation and keep donation top-of-mind for drivers.

Bureau of Motor Vehicles Spokeswoman Lindsey Bohrer said the name “Ohio Pride” was selected to encompass what makes Ohio unique.

“Senior Aaron Roberts from the Columbus College of Arts and Design (CCAD) designed the plate,” Bohrer said. “His artistic ability gave us a design distinctive to Ohio.”

Ohio Pride displays 46 slogans in the background describing what makes Ohio a great state. Slogans chosen for the final design were selected by votes from Ohio residents and tallied by BMV employees.

Customers wishing to obtain the new plate can do so through OPLATES or at any Ohio Deputy Registrar location.

Prefer the Beautiful Ohio license plate design? Customers will still have the option to purchase a standard plate at a local deputy registrar office until June 30, 2013. However, special plates like the Donate Life customization are no longer available in the Beautiful Ohio design.

Detailed information about the plates can be found on the Ohio BMV website.
