Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
Today marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, a celebration of freedom for the Hispanic community in the U.S. The annual event, which runs from Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, jointly commemorates the independence of Cost Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, all observed on Sept. 15, as well as Mexico and Chile, both countries that gained independence in September.
The month is observed through celebrations of Hispanic culture, contribution and heritage across the country.
Lifeline of Ohio is celebrating this occasion by encouraging Hispanic-Americans to leave a lasting legacy and register as organ and tissue donors! Right now more than 112,000 people in the U.S., including nearly 20,000 Hispanics, are waiting on life-saving organ transplants. Thousands more await the healing gift of tissue.
