Family’s mission takes them cross-country
On Thanksgiving day, the Greiner family was giving thanks for more than the food in front of them. They were giving thanks for life.
Mike Greiner, a kidney and pancreas recipient, celebrated the holiday in Ohio – the 30th state his family has visited since April.
Mike and his wife, Sheri, daughter, Chloe, and son, Eli, sold their home in Illinois and took to the road in a life-saving mission of thanks. “We don’t have words to say thank you. So we’re going to be out there trying to help other people and make our lives worthwhile,” said Mike.
The family is stopping in all 50 states to promote organ and tissue donation and share their story. Their goal is to register as many new donors as possible during their visit. Mike said it’s a way to honor the gift his donor, Annie, gave him and help ensure others can also receive a second chance at life.
