As we enter the holiday season and look sharply towards the end of 2017, the one word that comes to mind is “Gratitude.”

Lifeline of Ohio has experienced a year of milestones.  We opened our newly designed Donor Memorial, honoring the heroes of organ, eye and tissue donation in April and moved into our newly refreshed and expanded work space. For this we are grateful.

This year we have worked with our partner hospitals to make possible more organs for transplant than in any year prior.  In addition,  many of our hospital partners are seeing an increase in the number of tissue and cornea donors.  Thanks to these generous heroes, many recipients and families will have a great deal to celebrate this holiday season.  We are empowering our community, more than ever, to save and heal lives through donation. For this, we are also most grateful.

Melody Beattie wrote, “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” I feel our gratitude is preparing us, as Melody wrote, to experience peace for today but, more importantly, to create a vision for all the possibilities tomorrow brings.

Best wishes and a humble thank you to Lifeline of Ohio’s dedicated staff, our volunteers, our transplant partners, our hospital partners and, most importantly, our generous heroes of donation and their families.

Happy Holidays,

Kent Holloway
