Afatamah had no idea she was ill until her doctor diagnosed her with liver failure – she was shocked. After only one month of waiting on the national transplant waiting list, she received the call and was given the gift of life on October 6, 2001. She has since celebrated 16 more wedding anniversaries with her husband and has welcomed a dozen great-grandchildren.
