Donor Memorial Holiday Tree Lighting

Donor families, recipients, living donors and community members are invited to gather on Friday, December 2 to celebrate organ, eye and tissue donors by hanging hand-made ornaments on the holiday tree in the Lifeline of Ohio Donor Memorial.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony will feature tree decorating, ornament creation, caroling and hot cocoa and cookies to honor the selfless donors who saved and healed lives. Jenny Hoover, Lifeline of Ohio bereavement services coordinator, says acknowledging each donor through an ornament helps donor families grieve and heal during the difficult holiday season.

“For many donor families, the idea of celebrating the holiday season without their family member is painful,” Hoover said. “Placing ornaments on the tree helps families celebrate the gifts of life their loved one made possible and remember them in a positive light. Gathering with recipients and other donor families at this event provides support and can help the healing process.”
