Think Blue, Think Green, Think Blue and Green for National Blue and Green Day

Americans will honor the heroes of donation who say “yes” to organ, eye and tissue donation by registering their name in the Ohio Donor Registry on Friday, April 19 for National Blue and Green Day.

Wear your favorite blue and/or green outfit on April 19 and offer HOPE to the more than 117,500 Americans waiting for a life-saving transplant; HONOR the heroes of organ, eye and tissue donation; REMEMBER those that died waiting for their second chance at life; and CELEBRATE the recipients who received the “Gift of Life” through transplantation.

Join us in downtown Columbus as we gather at 11:30 a.m. at the Ohio Statehouse to hear a House of Representatives Proclamation declaring it Blue and Green day in Ohio. At noon, we will proceed to the corner of Broad and High Streets to celebrate all heroes of donation with visual, interactive messages displayed on the five-story high Orange Barrel Media Ticker. We hope you will be one of the hundreds of supporters and volunteers who will create a “sea of green and blue” in downtown Columbus in support of organ donation!

Looking to get involved in National Blue and Green Day but can’t make it downtown? Here are some other ways to participate:

1)      Invite your colleagues, contacts and/or customers to wear blue and green on April 19.

2)      Take a photo of you and your colleagues in blue and green and enter to win on the Donate Life America Facebook Page! From Friday, April 19 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, you can submit your photo in one of seven categories including fashion, arts and crafts/decorations, food and recipes, groups and decorated work space. The top five imaged with the most likes in each category will be voted on by fans and the winning image will earn a $100 gift card. The person who submitted the image will be awarded the prize. Get ideas from our blue and green Pinterest board.

3)      Show your support for donation on your social media sites! Upload your blue and green photo to your own Facebook or Twitter accounts. Be sure to tag @LifelineofOhio in your post.
