National Donate Life Registry

PR02659 LifelineOhio Logos_MW_v3.0This fall, Donate Life America announced the launch of the national Donate Life Registry. The purpose of www.RegisterMe.org is to make it easier for people to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor during nationwide Donate Life campaigns and via partnerships that aim to bring donation awareness to the residents of multiple states and communities.

Donate Life America launched the national registry to coincide with Pope Francis’ visit to the United States. The campaign launched in September and aimed to register people in honor of the Pontiff’s powerful message – “Organ donation is a testimony of love for our neighbor.”

Moving forward, Donate Life America plans to introduce other Donate Life campaigns geared towards a variety of audiences using the mobile-friendly platform.  In addition, a feature will allow registered donors to create their own campaigns to track how many of their family, friends and colleagues register as organ, eye and tissue donors.

The Donate Life Registry does not replace the Ohio Donor Registry or any other state registry, but will co-exist with it and will be honored as first person authorization under the Ohio Revised Code.  All recovery organizations will follow their existing policies, in regards to accessing donor designations, whether the donor registered using their state or national registry.  Clinical staff have been trained on how to access designations from the national registry and will make it part of their clinical practices, per Lifeline of Ohio’s policies and procedures.
