This week, one of Lifeline of Ohio’s Donate Life Ambassadors is competing for the title of Miss Ohio with a very important platform: “shine on through organ and tissue donation.”
Veronica Wende, a Lima, Ohio resident and student at Hillsdale College in Michigan, is the reigning Miss Mohican Valley, a title that takes her on her first trip to the Miss Ohio pageant.
“I’m most excited about the experience, and I love to get to talk about organ and tissue donation,” said Veronica.
Veronica was inspired to promote organ and tissue donation after losing friends who became donors after their death. Motivated by their gifts, Veronica became a Donate Life Ambassador and made organ and tissue donation her pageant platform.
She has helped Lifeline of Ohio with various special events and projects, and has particularly enjoyed working with our mascot, Honey Bee.
“I love to see how kids light up when they see Honey and how others interact with her,” Veronica said.
Honey Bee will make her pageant debut today as she joins Veronica onstage to present her platform!
Competing in pageants since she was six years old, Veronica has held several titles, including 2009 Miss Ohio Outstanding Teen. Her current journey could take her to the Miss America pageant, and give organ and tissue donation awareness a national platform.
Please root for Veronica as she competes at The Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield, Ohio. No matter the outcome, Veronica is already a hero to us!
