Saturday, April 2, 2011 – 12 AM – 11:59 PM

Lifeline of Ohio Donor Memorial Park, 770 Kinnear Road, Columbus

Join us for a 24-hour celebration of the Gift of Life as we “Don’t Let Another Chair Go Empty.”

"Don't Let Another Chair Go Empty"Witness the power of donation as we share 24 stories of hope, remembrance and celebration over 24 hours, ensuring the Donate Life Ohio Green Chair does not go empty.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute your message to our Wall of Hope, Remembrance and Celebration
  • Light a candle to honor a loved one
  • Share your story at our open-mic
  • Meet other people who have been touched by organ, eye and tissue donation

We invite you to join us at any point during this 24-hour period. Choose an hour that’s important to you and invite your family and friends to be a part of this incredible event.

Did you know 18 people die each day in the United States while waiting for a life-saving transplant? It’s our hope to draw attention to this statistic by ensuring the Green Chair, the statewide icon for organ, eye and tissue donation, does not go empty. Someone with a connection to the cause will remain in the chair every hour and share their story.

You may share your message on our Wall of Hope, Remembrance and Celebration.  This wall will be filled with messages from our community and will be a testament to the lives that continue to shine on through organ and tissue donation and transplantation.  The wall will remain on display throughout Donate Life Month.

This is an outdoor event and will take place rain or shine. There is no cost to participate. Parking is available in the Lifeline of Ohio and BMI Credit Union parking lots.

If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Terri Louder at 614-384-7375 or volunteers@lifelineofohio.org. We encourage individuals and groups to sign up for a specific hour to help with the wall and other activities.

My oldest daughter, Amanda Carpenter, was an organ donor. On April 27, 2009, she began a different journey on this earth and is fulfilling her life dream of helping others fulfill their lives. I know for a fact that Amanda would be thrilled if even one person benefited from her horrific, senseless death!
This Memorial you are holding is just an extra reason to continue to fight on for more people to become tisue and organ donors! Thank You for your hard work. Amanda’s sisters and I are also organ donors!
